New superintending officer at the head of FCC S.A.

On November 10 FCC S.A. officially announced that Superintending Officer Rubens Medeiros Novicki was being substituted by Chemical Engineer Pietro Carlos Monaco, who has been Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors from 2000 to 2005.

54-year-old, Pietro Monaco graduated at the Chemistry School of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro  (UFRJ) and is a specialist in Process Engineering. He entered Petrobras S.A. in 1974 and served the Lubricant Production department of the Duque de Caxias Refinery (REDUC) and the Base Engineering Department of the Petrobras’ Research Center (CENPES), where he was involved in various pioneer projects related mainly to waste conversion. In this field, Pietro started as manager of the Waste Conversion Technology Department and later assumed the position of Process and Product Technology Manager for Petrobras’ Refining Department. Before becoming superintendent of FCC S.A., Pietro was the General Manager of Research and Development for the Supply Department of CENPES and was responsible for the first project portfolio of the Strategic Refining Program (PROTER).

After nearly three years running the factory, former Superintending Officer Rubens Novicki - a chemical engineer with over 27 years of experience in the petrochemical sector – is heading to another large project in a new Petrobras unit.  Novicki has contributed to important achievements for FCC S.A., both in terms of technological innovation, such as the Topaz Project and the development of the Santa Cruz Technological Complex, and in terms of improvement in company and people management.

The new superintendent of FCC S.A. intends to continue the work begun by Rubens Novicki, giving priority to market relations management and directing efforts to People, Industrial Safety and Environment Management.
