During the fifth edition of Oeste Export held in Rio de Janeiro, Fábrica Carioca de Catalisadores (Rio de Janeiro Catalyst Factory) proved how organizations investing heavily in technology could contribute to the social and economic development of the region where they perform their activities.
Sharing the table with two other companies based in the West area of the city of Rio de Janeiro -- Michelin and GERDAU -- FCC S.A. took part in the debates on June 24th, which had as its main topic “The Large projects and Regional Development”. During the event the FCC’s Operational Manager, Mr. Cid Carvalho, presented the Project Topaz. This project aims at enlarging the facilities not only to enable the increase in the productive capacity, but also to implement the Topaz catalyst technology up to the end of 2005. Its agenda comprised the role of FCC S.A. in the creation of new job posts and in the promotion of technology and scientific research in Brazil.
